Georgia Public Records

Most certificates can be dispensed from the Department of Public Health including birth, death, marriage and divorce. Records for births and deaths for any county in Georgia is available for record date of 1919 to present. Search fees of $25 dollars also include one copy of the certificate. Additional copies are $5 each. There are additional fees for searching multiple years when exact birth dates aren't known.

Some but not all records regarding marriage and civil unions are available from the state health department. Marriage records dating from 1952 to 1996 can be ordered for a $10 dollar search fee. Adoption Records

All adoption records are considered sealed records after the completion of the adoption process. So all birth certificate requests and records require a court order to open. To assist adoptees, birthparents and siblings with finding relatives and updating public profiles, visit the Georgia Adoption Reunion Registry, a voluntary database of adoptees and birth families.

Property Records

Property and land records are handled by a few different county level departments. Geographic Information Systems handle man of the counties maps, terrains and parcels. Assessors maps assign values and tax values to parcels.
